The Bears currently have five defensive ends under contract.
Veteran ends Julius Peppers and Israel Idonije are the starters at this point. Chauncey Davis, Corey Wootton and Thaddeus Gibson are the other ends on the roster.
Davis was signed to a two-year deal following a Week 10 win over the Detroit Lions replacing rotational end Nick Reed.
In six games last season, the 29-year-old Davis recorded nine tackles and one sack as the fourth defensive end.
He racked up four tackles in his first game as a Bear in Week 12 against Oakland. Two weeks later against Denver he made three tackles and one sack.
He has the potential to be a major contributor for this team next year. He has been solid as a run stopper in his seven seasons in the NFL.
