The Bears added Chicago native Kelvin Hayden to the mix today.
The move strengthens the secondary.
Hayden was brought in for a workout last off-season, but he wasn’t quite at full strength.
He appeared in eight games with the Atlanta Falcons last season making 24 tackles and two interceptions.
In seven seasons in the NFL, Hayden has appeared in 85 games making 47 starts, while racking up 312 tackles, 11 interceptions and four forced fumbles.
He spent six seasons with the Colts (2005-2010) before departing last season.
His greatest moment in his NFL career was one the Bears would like to forget. In Super Bowl XLI against the Bears he returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown.
The Bears were trailing 22-17 at that time in the game, so the touchdown return by Hayden was ultimately the dagger.
The 29-year old Hayden has appeared in 10 postseason games, totaling 29 tackles and three interceptions.
He brings depth to a secondary
