The Bears brought back safety Craig Steltz on a two-year deal.
Steltz is the fifth Bears player who re-signed with the team since free agency opened on Monday.
Steltz’s deal according to ESPN Chicago is worth $1.64 million for two seasons.
That’s a pretty cheap deal for a guy who contributes a lot to the team.
The four-year pro started the final four games of the season, totaling 48 tackles, 1.0 sack and two forced fumbles.
He is very solid at stopping the run and usually is the safety who stacks the box, when the Bears are doing just that.
But he is vulnerable at times in the secondary and that’s why he projects as the third or fourth safety behind Chris Conte and Major Wright next season.
Steltz was burned by Packers TE Jermichael Finley for three touchdowns in a 27-17 loss back in Week Three last season.
