Is Troy Smith heading to the Windy City to backup inexperienced Caleb Hanie?
The former Heisman Trophy winner at Ohio State could be a nice option off the bench for the Bears.
Last season, the team opted to sign veteran Todd Collins and everyone saw what a big mistake that was.
With limited options available currently, Smith might be the best quarterback on the market.
Smith is only 27 and he played in the UFL this season, so he is in game shape.
In four seasons in the NFL, the former fifth-round pick has appeared in 20 games, making eight starts.
In those 20 games, he posted a QB rating of 78.5, 1734 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions.
He started six games last season for the 49ers, where he posted a QB rating of 77.8 and threw five touchdowns and four interceptions.
Would the Bears decide to bring a veteran like Smith in this week for a workout.
