The Bears released safety Chris Harris yesterday. Today he was picked up by the division rival Detroit Lions.
Harris was claimed off waivers by the 5-2 Lions, who defeated the Bears back in Week Five. In that game, Harris was beat by Lions WR Calvin Johnson for a 73-yard touchdown pass.
He will likely compete with strong safety Amari Spievey, who has three interceptions so far this season. Spievey has an interception in the last two games for Detroit.
With free safety Louis Delmas also in the lineup, it could be tough for Harris to get time on the field. But he brings experience and first hand knowledge of a lot of Detroits’ opponents.
It will be interesting to see how much they use Harris for the last stretch of the season.
Expect a welcoming return to Soldier Field for Harris, when the Lions come to town in Week 10. Harris will be reunited with former Bear Rashied
