According to CSN Chicago, RB Chester Taylor is likely to be released sometime soon. The 32 year old running back, appeared in all 16 games, carrying the ball 112 times for 267 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 20 catches for 139 yards.
An average of 2.4 ypc by Taylor just isn’t acceptable. He signed a four-year, $12.5 million contract last March, the Bears paid him $7 million this season. Taylor’s base salary for next season will be $1.275 million if the Bears decided to hang on to him.
Taylor was productive in his four seasons in Minnesota, but the Bears didn’t utilize him correctly during the season.
Keeping Taylor might be a good idea considering no one the Bears have right now is really any better. But do the Bears want to pay Taylor over $1 million next season.
